I've got a standalone ECU that uses a MAP sensor so I have removed the AFM and have replaced all the intake with 2" pipe and silicon joins and two smallish pod filters but it's very 'home made' and needs finishing off with a proper airbox/shield.

manifold absolute pressure sensor,
and its only part of what you need,
to use it you need a full ecu (brad has a autronic full ecu),
or piggy back ecu.... the map-ecu is map sensor based

piggy back ecu could i use an apexi avcr would that get rid of the afm? chris did u see any gains and do u get mean induction noise?

avcr is a boost controller,
safc is a fuel controller, but does not remove the need for the afm,
theres not alot of choice. full ecu or map ecu will get rid of the afm. thats about it for our cars

gly do u have any links for a map ecu for our cars wat is involved to install it . is it possiable to do it ur self or does it need to go to a shop

Generally just noise , possibly comes on boost quicker too.
I am still on stock boost so nothing major from what i ahve done so far.

DIY, just cut a few wires and rejoin, to the map loom.
theres no vr4 specific diagram,
but theres enough info between here and club vr4 for ecu pin outs,
its not that hard to wire in, just take your time and double check,

Chris, any plans on making the intake kit available for purchase? This was one of the mods I thought would be worthwhile as soon as I saw the stock pipes. It is one of the first things you do to a Silvia, which has the same piping. Just a bad design.

i wonder if u just changed the front pipe from the turbo if u would hear spooling or gain any power?
