I was able to Evo scan and record a video of the car stalling after startup. It's very random. Sometimes it happens once a month or three times a day.

Cold starts always are fine. It's only after I drive the car and restart it it then stalls. RPMs will hunt between 200 and 500. After about a minute the RPMs ate normal.

I'm not sure because now the car's been sitting for 2 hours and it went and started it and it started completely fine. It's only when I drive it and then start it after the drive. Cold starts are always perfect.

This is kind of typical and will just get worse and hunt/stall all the time eventually. Even at the lights.

If its connector is a very faded brown my money is on that.

Otherwise, there was some discussion here on one of the relays behind the radio causing issues.

Are you referring to the color of the stepper bring light brown?

I do see an upgraded replacement part number MD628056 which is black.

Yes, when it is that ugly brown it indicates it's the one it left the factory with. Common problem.

It could be the problem, as you can see if you are an early 96-97 model, it could be a faulty part equipped, so it was replaced by the newer version, ie, MD628056.

Can't seem to find one in stock. The ones I see on eBay seem cheap

The eBay ones are fine, don't overpay for them as they're all the same.

I bought a heap off Alixpress a few moons ago and sold them slowly over a few years. Never had any complaints.

They are prone to getting "dead steps" try adjusing the idle screw out so the stepper is operating in a different range of motion then disconnecting battery for 15 mins or so, to allow the ecu to relearn the idle

If its not caused by a vac leak, then SAS screw might need adjustment. Proper adjustment procedure does need mut or Evoscan to lock the timing. But you can mark the original position and adjust until it's happy and revert back if no good. Personally I'd be tempted to check for leaks before adjusting.

Also check tps is 13%. Ive found that to be the sweet spot for idle. The tps has a idle/rest switch which would be activated when the tb is resting. TPS adjusted correctly means this switch works correctly so the ecu knows your off the throttle. (This input ties into the idle routine decision tree in the code, couldnt tell you specifically what though)
