hmmm...according to RTA, Point to Point is enforced to heavy vehicles only
For Point-to-Point enforcement a heavy vehicle will be considered as a coach, motor vehicle or trailer with a Gross Vehicle Mass greater than 4.5 tonnes.

But then there is a paragraph saying point to point will be use to the current speeding law
Point-to-Point enforcement will be used to enforce existing speeding laws, however an additional demerit point will be incurred by drivers detected speeding using Point-to-Point enforcement. This is because offences detected by Point-to-Point enforcement demonstrate a continued intention to speed.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/speedandspeedcameras/avespeedsafetycameras/index.html

So I think, it is being enforce to cars as well.

well i have only had this car for 6 months but i havnt had any issues with police, im 22 but i look 16, my legnum is white with a unpainted carbon fibre bonnet and on top of that i live in one of the scummiest hoon riddled places in melbourne and we have plenty of cops getting around. infact we have so many that 2 of my mates got pulled over 3 times in one day
mind you i dont drive like a dick all the time and i never speed....
i think that if you dont normally break the law then your looking too far in to it and unnecessarily over stressing

I thought the point to point going up the F3 towards Newcastle was for trucks only, but the point to point down near Victoria was for every vehicle? =/ hrmm..

The Point to Point on the F3 is a Safety Cam which is there to monitor whether or not Truckies have taken the breaks they're supposed to take. The only Speed Camera's i'm aware of are Northbound at Mount White and before the Ourimbah Exit.

Of course being owners of turbocharged all paw vehicles we have an obligation to use the Old Pacific Highway so there's a decent amount of rubber on the roads for the motorcyclists on weekends. There's no speed cameras on that road (for now).

Indeed. The 2 northbound ones at Mt White if you notice, only the 2nd one is signposted. I believe the first one doesn't do anything & was in fact moved from the base of the hill at The Spit due to being faulty. Why it's there I do not know..
Also be very careful on the F3 in the 90km zone. I strongly urge to stick to the limit there. Police are always patrolling & often sit inbetween the lanes at Jolls Bridge at the bottom of the hill catching speeders.

Yeah that first one isn't signposted? I don't know why it's there either.. Maybe to scare people?

And +1 to the 90km zone

Ah here we go Tom;
http://phorums.com.au/archive/index.php/t-170324.html

To quote;
"The FIRST camera, one observes northbound, takes ONLY a photo of the INITIAL electronic speed limit sign, 'triggered' when a car at the second, and actual speed camera results in an alert. This overhead gantry again signals the applicable speed limit, AND it will also be displayed clearly in that photograph issued by the first camera.
Because of this, the first 'camera' does not need to be signposted as it is NOT set for vehicle speed detection, but is called upon by the second device to snap a photograph of the applicable speed limit. The driver then cannot please ignorance of what is applicable ahead.
The SECOND camera takes a photo of the offending vehicle AND of that nearby overhead gantry showing the speed limit being enforced in the usual manner.
Done to further defence at law of an imposed penalty. This is not an issue of Spit Bridge like 'double jeopardy'.
Other nearby cameras are purely security measures to protect the expenditure.
Cameras elsewhere, as stand alone - are purely observation for both the TMC (Traffic Management Centre) and internet."

When i was in Syd in my mates galant we didnt get pulled over once in the 2 months i lived their... I think most people just thinks it a rebadges magna with a kit on it...

That being said when I was down seeing another mate and took his supra for a drive I got pulled over twice in 3 days... I didnt do anything they just wanted to make sure I hadnt been drinking I guess...

People give drivers of certain cars a bad name.

Paul, its simple....

If you get pulled over, don't act like a cock, say you are a tourist (Which they will see from your license) and if they give you hassle about anything, say you didn't realise and you will get it looked at when you get home. Saved my skin a couple of times.

They are nazi's in Northern NSW, central/mid aren't too bad, especially regional but I don't know about any further south.

I think it's more or less the understated looks the cars have, they do just look like a fancy looking sedan.. Kind of like Chasers? I'm sure they don't cop much flak either?

They don't look like over the top powerful cars like Skylines, Supras, and WRX/EVO with huge spoilers!

Having said that, I don't get hassled in my STI tho haha

Which suprised me in Victoria where the police were aggressively trying to get people to speed when I drove there in a pretty standard bottom of the range FD Civic.

But it was the Grand Prix weekend, so they had quotas for that weekend. The same shenanigans would go on during the Moto GP, probably targeting bikes. They can't be c*nts all the time and if you ignore them, they do go away.

I think its more idiots that drive Supras/Skylines/180sx etc who think they are in Fast and the Furious that give other drivers of those cars bad names.

I don't think anyone thinks they're in The Fast & The Furious anymore.

Well, maybe Lancer MR drivers with Evo kits & Vault chromies. They're still stuck in the early 00s.

In the 10 years or so I've been driving modified cars, I've only ever been pulled over twice. Once I was speeding a little bit and the other time I was lost and they just wanted to know why I was doing U-turns all over the place. Usually, it comes down to how you conduct yourself....draw attention to yourself and that's what you'll get, drive like a regular human and you should be OK

When I had my 7th gen galant I got hassled heaps.. But having said that, i had P plates on my car, and it was always at 4 in the morning when I had finished work.. Some were nice and noticed my uniform.. Even had a good chat after..
Some were over the top, searching my car and looking round the engine bay.. Would give me a lecture..

Now I have my wrx I have had no incidents?? One asked me what I was doing wjeni was warming the car up.. But that's it.. I think it depends on the mood of the copper at the time..
You've all heard the stories of people gettin questionable fines/defects unprovoked..
