Hey, anyone know if its a problem that i get a kinda ticking noise every time i let off the accelerator and engine brake. Sounds like some kinda actuator opening closing really quickly. ???? dont think its a problem but would like to know what it is.

do VR4's have a high-idle?
Mine's a manual-conversion and it idles around 1100rpm when warmed up so it seems like I've got very little engine-brake compared to the R33, which face-palms you with the steering wheel (and idles about 650).

I stumbled across a thread that mentioned how a dead O2 sensor would mean a constantly rich mix and potentially a high idle.
I guess that could explain the high-idle, the poor fuel economy but does it explain the burping/popping under deceleration?

In terms of idling high, check your throttle cable first then check the ECU for error codes and then i'd be looking at your MAF and throttle position sensor

ok, another thing for you gurus...btw I'm not lazy and only marginally fat, but my excuse for not searching is a 4 month old bub who doesn't let me sleep (time spent searching is time that could be spent sleeping or gnome-stomping)

What I've noticed:

• With a WOT, boost will run-up to the MBC-set 1.0bar but then tapers back to about 0.8 within a few seconds
• A slight 'shooooooo' sound can be heard as the boost approaches 0bar, gradual throttle to let the boost come on slowly (this sound is VERY much like a soft, drawn-out version of the 'TSCHU' the recirc makes when closing the throttle from high-boost).

What I HAVEN'T noticed (ie isn't there)

• Any oil leaking, excessive smoke (of the white variety) or metallic whining (whose pitch is proportional to the boost) from the car while under load (so fingers crossed I don't have a wobbly turbine).
• What could be described as a 'whistling kettle' sound so I'm tentatively ruling out a gasket.

What do you reckon? Stock recirc is toast or something more sinister?

Oh it was a harrowing ordeal.

First, I popped the hood. Then, I wiggled the throttle-cable around. Finally, I shut the hood and started it up.

I have a punctured tyre and the tyre shop are going to try and repair it. Problem is that the screw is very close to the side wall and I may need to replace the tyre.

Now the concern here for me is AYC. I would obviously need the same tyre size as the rest, but will I need to worry about the tread pattern?

Isn't it required by law that the tyres match? So the front tyres need to be the same and the rear tyres need to be the same?

Has anyone ever had a set of 4 wheels sent from NZ to Aus? I am looking at a set of evo rims on trademe and they are a great price and i keen to know what it may cost for freight.

I paid $300 for 2 Recaro seats sent from NZ to Sydney by air (they sent to wrong airport) if thats any help. Don't know how much quarantine/customs would be for the wheels but I paid almost $300 for the 2 seats, which i wasn't very happy about.
Just gotta say that I like the wheels on your car at the moment...what series EVO rims are they mate?

Just so you know I wouldn't go all out on those particular wheels, there are always tons of EVO 4-9 wheels on trademe and all for $400-700, so if the ones on there at the moment aren't the version you are looking for or whatever just wait a week and look again.

Anyone know of a vehicle that uses side repeaters about an inch square?

I'm thinking of sourcing some clear ones and using them as number plate lights to replace the current rectangular ones. I want to try to squeeze a reversing camera into one of the existing cut outs but still keep a functioning light.
