I just got full comprehensive with Just Car, 23 years old, 1 accident caused 2 years ago, live in quiet area of Tasmania, $750! Was pretty happy with that.

yeah gonna have to do the ringaround and get laughed at. i dont mind spending money on the CAR - the best fluids, the best service...but paying an insurance company to hedge my risk is not my idea of spending money to better the car - its a necessary evil. third party property is not in the question for any car worth over $5000 in my opinion.

^^ tell that to some of the clients we have insured with us...majority are of asian decent and they have 2 or 3 yr old toyota's insured with TPPD only...

chances are they either dont understand what TPPD insurance covers or theyre just risk-takers...or their cars are so heavily modified that it just doesnt make sense to insure comprehensively.
to me, i dont get comprehensive insurance because i think that im such a shit driver that im going to screw up and hit someone else. i get it because, more often than not, it is 300000 times easier to claim on your own insurance and get your insurance company's legal team to deal with the other party, than to deal with someone else's insurance in the event that some other shitty driver hits you. oh, and you get more for the car if its stolen/torched. from what i recall, AAMI only covers up to $5k in the event your car is stolen...is just car any better than that? maybe they cover market value if the car is stolen? nonetheless, i still dont want to entertain the thought.

Just picked up my car today~ oh yeah.. i paid 960 from just car insureance, 300 year old driver, no clains, no accidents live in western sydney. the price changes if you are on finance or paid in full. about 10% different. i have chose the flexi access stuff.. accident, 1700 and stolen, 2100. One thing was that they would not give me a agreed value for more than 15000~! bum..

i got quoted $872 with just cars with $400 excess and $1300 theft excess. under 25 exclusion. I'm 25 with Rating 1 and had a car stolen last year.
Pretty good i thought.. Shannons wouldn't insure me because the car won't be in a "lock up" garage... it will be under my carport which is actually pretty secure.

definetly! i have a dlug and there are times when i dont put it in the garage at night because i will go out again! whos to say, you have a lug and its parked outside garage cause youll go out again in an hour or so...and it gets stolen....
they cant ping yopu for that.....heck it might get stolen during the day!! most peoples cars leave there house! what if it gets stolen at work!
if it lowers ur insirance to say to you have one(and hopefully you do and ur not lying about it) then say it!

Mine is with Shannons for about $850. I don't even bother getting quotes from anywhere else anymore, Shannons is always the best for premium and excess.

Yeah better off living in Tasmania. I pay $670pa with Shannons 30yo and it is garaged. Just cars were around $800 but would only insure for $14500 not agreed value like Shannons and the excesses with Just cars was more. Mind you it was about $80 more a year if the Legnum was my only car as it is insured now as 2nd vehicle used occasionally.

be wary of agreed values guys - generally these days they dont mean a thing. it can just be a way of having bragging rights over your mates and "oh my car is insured for $20k but its only worth $15k" etc.
most insurance companies these days offer agreed values but come settlement time if your vehicle is a write off, you will either get the agreed value OR the market value whichever is lower! which means that even if your car is insured for $18k and its written off, if the market value is only $14k then 9/10 times $14k is all that will get paid (less any excess or other deductions) i recommend you all read your PDS's under the section about "How much will we pay" (generally its around that page somewhere).

Went with Lumley Special Vehicles - around $770 fully comp on rating one. Need to be over 25 and car stored off the street at home address (driveway ok), but was the best price and product I got vs Just Cars and Shannons
