David - depends on the width of the wheel. If it is 7.5" then 225/45 is best, 235 is just a little bit wide. 235 is fine on 8" though.

Definitely 7.5", you are measuring from the wrong part of the wheel :)

Yeah I did read through that.

I was looking specifically for information on whether or not the 80,000 Km service was a classed as a 'major service' and if so which parts were needed.

As I mentioned earlier I most likely mis-read something, actually come to think of it I may be thinking about my Honda Prelude which is due for a major service (albeit at 180,000 Km).

According to my Galant Guide, the 80,000klm service involves the following:

a) engine oil;

b) oil filter;

c) air filter; and

d) fuel filter.

It doesn't look like the 80,000klm service is a major service.

The thing you need to consider is that service intervals are usually measured in kilometres and time periods.

Even if your car has been garaged all its life and has only done 20,000klms in 10 years of ownership, you still need to do the services as consumables, belts and rubber parts still break down over time.

This is why I see the major service recommended at 100,000 or 5 years.

Some cars specify the major service at 90,000km. So 180k sounds correct for your Honda's second time around.

2012 VW Caddy 1.6TDI 7-Speed DSG. Still crappy DSG.....
Was driving the Super yesterday (just cruising) & the 'TCL OFF' light came on the dash. Thinking I had nudged the switch, I went to turn it on. Light remained on the dash.
Then the engine warning light came on.
I pulled over, turned the car off & kept braking to dissipate any remaining charge. Restarted the engine & both lights came on again together.
Pulled over again, restarted the engine, & then they went away.

What was the car trying to tell me ? It's just had a major service at MEEK only a few weeks ago & only gets driven on the weekends...

Check the vacuum lines heading to the traction control thingy. The grey looking cylinder up near the firewall under the bonnet.

Ok people time for me to use this thread, I am getting a couple of new alarms as my lancer's old one died. So ordered 2 from ebay with specs I wanted, where do I find the central locking control module for the legnum? I used to install alarms and car audio for a living before working for myself but I can't really be bothered pulling the car apart to find this module if someone else has already worked it out. I assume it would be a negative pulse central locking like most cars. With the alarm being dead on the Lancer my wife is sick of opening the drivers door to trip the central locking to unlock all the doors, especially when it is raining and she is trying to get bubs into the car quickly. So new alarm and one in the legnum will probably work better and more consistantly than the factory key does.

The stock downpipes are kind of yellowy-brown metal colour and have a second skin on them for heat protection.

Nigel the factory remote central locking receiver is located in the centre console near the shifter, from memory. There's also a solenoid somewhere, I think its under the dash above the in-cabin fusebox, but I'm at work with no access to ASA so I recommend double-checking (and this is a great excuse to download and install it if you haven't already - its a fantastically useful resource when looking for the location of things on your car).

Anyone know if the standard intercooler hoses have any problem with increased boost? Apart from possible heat issues, do they hold their shape pretty well with the extra pressure?

Oh gee, I have another stupid question already..

When quoting engine numbers for rego etc do you usually include the 6A13 prefix or is it not necessary?
