standard dump pipe diamater anyone?

Boost Gauge

Ok i installed a boost guage last night and it dosen't work at all any ideas. I'm thinking maybe the hose has been crushed but i doubt it and will have a look this evening. Any other ideas? Here's some pics if it helps point out my errors

It is at the back of the manifold just behind the strut brace.

That looks like the right hose, if it's a cheapy boost guage, the hose is probably flattened somewhere...

yeah it's cheap like me Where did you guys run your vacume hose thru? I went the wheel arch it is tight through there any other spots or safe places to drill through the firewall?

Where does the needle sit when the car is off and the car is on? When off it should sit at zero, when on it should be in vacuum.... If not then the line its tapped off or the hose to the gauge is disconnected/blocked like you said.

I drilled through the firewall at the top of the engine bay on the drivers side next to where the accelerator cable comes through.... A nuisance to get to but works well and is a good spot

cheers brad, so they are quite smaller then any upgraded dumps avaliable tyen. just for the quotes ive been given i was wondering if it was worth it. sounds like standard is quite restrictive

I wish to put my 215 45 R17 tyres on my new wheels that have 225 45 R17 tyres on at the moment is there any issues with doing this?

Ken - they are a bit restictive yes, everyone that has put downpipes on has been pleased with the result.

David - are the wheels 7.5" wide? If so I'd leave 225's on there. 215/45 is actually smaller than the stock radius. Just make sure that if you do change them that you change all 4 at the same time.

I've got a car coming through compliance soon and want to up grade my tyres on my evo 5 wheels (currently on my car). Hoping i can use my existing tyres on the new cars wheels. 215 45 is what came on my evo 5 rims from compliance

Ok Team Lee n Dawso n whoever else is willing to help. Yes the cheap ass hose had flattened from heat. So irerouuted it through the firewall n there is deffinately no kinksor flattening. When car is at idle i get the slightest of vacume but no boost shows at all while driving. If you take a look at the pics, i used some of there hose to join the t piece just in case i wanted to take it out. The seals are tight but the hose diameter is different would this matter? Has anyone else used this position there appears to be very little preasure coming thru the hose.

Get some hose the same diameter and of better quality. The vacuum could be causing the hose to collapse.... Missing boost pressure could be due to the hose diameter inconsistencies

I'm just guessing now though, hard to diagnose without being there haha. Is there any members near you that could help?

i ised the water irrigation clear hose from bunnings and worked fine for a while.. then.. one hot day, is sort of stuck together..
